MNBC and Rogers for Business collaborate to support Métis-owned businesses and communities with wireless services

SURREY, BC, March 11, 2021 – Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) and Rogers for Business today announced they are providing wireless connectivity, services and dedicated support to over 340 Métis businesses and communities in B.C.

This innovative partnership will provide Métis-owned businesses registered with MNBC’s business directory with exclusive access to business solutions and services as well as a dedicated team that will offer support and advice on how Rogers for Business services can advance their operations. MNBC believes this collaboration will help increase economic opportunities for local Métis residents and businesses.

This is the first collaboration between MNBC and Rogers for Business and a major partnership between MNBC and a corporate Canada leader. MNBC believes it is another important milestone in Métis business development.

“This partnership means Métis businesses, no matter where they are in the province, will have access to the largest wireless network in B.C. and a dedicated service team to help continue the growth and development of the Indigenous economy,” said MNBC Minister of Economic Development and Natural Resources, Louiss De Jaeger. “We’re proud to have a growing number of Métis-owned businesses in our directory and look forward to continuing to develop programs like this one to support economic advancement in the future.”

MNBC’s business directory brings together Métis businesses from across the province together in one directory. Businesses registered with the business directory benefit from increased exposure and exclusive opportunities. Métis-owned businesses must be registered with MNBC’s business directory to qualify for the Rogers partnership products.

“This partnership is a big step towards setting our Métis registered businesses up for success,” said Pixie Wells, President of the Fraser Valley Métis Association. “Rogers is a leading technology company in Canada, and by partnering with them, we are providing meaningful benefits to Métis businesses and the rest of the Métis community. We hope to see this as the start of working towards a more robust organization-to-organization partnership.”

Rogers is committed to building a more diverse inclusive culture that celebrates and honours Indigenous cultures by recognizing their role and responsibility to advocate for change and drive progress for Indigenous Peoples. Rogers uses their assets, platforms, partnerships, as well as the voices of team members, to make a meaningful difference to support the national, provincial, local and Indigenous governments in resolving the inequity of the digital divide. Rogers is dedicated to a path to reconciliation and playing a role in fostering inclusion for Indigenous Peoples.

“We are proud to partner with Indigenous communities and find the right solutions to connect more B.C. communities to help increase economic opportunities for local businesses and community members, “said Rick Sellers, President for British Columbia, Rogers Communications.
